Just a quicky

Just messing around with a quick sketch of Tia, felt like actually coloring something in Photoshop, so, this is my first attempt in a long while.
Tia deep in thought.

how did you get the shading done like that? did you do it custome, or did you use B&E?

as always, a good job

I used the dodge and burn tools. The burn tool looks like a hand, the dodge tool looks like a pin. You can select shadow/medium/or highlight for different effects on how they alter colors.

I usually use the burn tool to create the shadow effect where I want the picture to be dark, then go over the light areas a little with the dodge tool to bring out more light and make it look as if there's a little reflection or glow.
For the best effect, I usually give every color its own layer, so the first step is creating layers for each part of the picture. Once each color has its own layer, I start editing the shading on each individual color. then once everything looks right, start merging the layers.

It sounds like allot of steps, and there are more little things in between but it usually creates a really nice effect. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Nice dodge/burn on the picture.
The colors came out really nice, but my only question is...
What is she so deep in thought about? :o

I never notice the 'dodge' effect even though everyone seems to despise it, but 'burn' usually sticks out like a sore thumb...
