First of all, don´t use lined paper.
Second try to structurise the characters more with basic shapes like triangles and circles and stuff. Try to get the character into proportion. I would suggest you get some "How to draw"-books from your lokal bookstore or comicshop. You also can try to copy drawings from comics for practice. Thats what the most important thing is. Practice, practice and more practice. Nobody gets a good artist from one day to another. Its a lot of work but its definitively worth it. Give it a try, buddy!

That's a funny idea, I love the "dialogue" [can't think of what it's called >.<]

Ah, my art started out looking something like that 5 years ago. I agree with Al, don't use line paper, anouther is to get ahold of some tutorials weather they are online or books, but books are tend to be more reliable the way I see it.

A good thing to study is anatomy, that way you get to know about proportions and anatomy.

As for styles here's the two main ones that I see at furry sites:

Cartoon: In alot of furry art I've seen, people tend to use both anime style and traditional. With good reason, it tends to make characters look cute.

Realistic: I like this one alot better. Its as it sounds, it looks more practical and it lets you see things they would look like in real life. I've taken up this one as my main style and with awsome results.

Well beoweasel havn't you ever heard of liking a woman for the size of her mind? A head that big has to have a rather large brain  .

Anyway thanks for the feedback support and advice guys. I'll buy some unlined paper when I get some money and probably hit the librarey for some drawing books...yes i do admit that im far to cheap to buy 'em from Borders bookstore :P .

yes puns are definately the best when it comes to humor in my book marble. :)

The best referrence you'll ever have...

Now first, get your heads out of the gutter.

Be sure it's out of there.

Your own body. Seems awkward, but a lot of drawing, is 'understanding' the parts of the body to better show em. So study yourself, and as if this wasn't sounding bad enough already, take the opportunities to study all the parts, especially those usually hidden by clothes.

This can help you understand how clothes will work, rather then just staring at pics with clothes and without clothes, trying to figure out how things should work.

I'm gonna stop now before it gets too bad XD

Now-now JK, no need to be harsh, you have a very good point though.

I've done alot of my drawing that way too. I remember I espeacialy did alot of self examination to draw a lizardman character of mine, in the arm possitioning mainly, everything else I improved. I went infront of a mirror holding a spear and take a good look then go back to my drawing and draw it the best I can. And with good restults too.

Sometimes you don't have much choice to use lined paper. There ARE ways to get rid of the lines, assuming they're at least a different color from the actual drawing. ^_^
