The APA Collection

Postby bennie » Sun Apr 06, 2008 12:28 am

I got reminded about this due to having the paypal button.

In the past we had a fund raiser that benefited this site. In 2004 or so, a collection of work from Megamorphics was bound and offered for sale at FC and AC.

The sale of the APA benefitted both the duplication costs of Megamorphics and also the running of the webpage that was hosted for it.

Megamorphics has been paused for the last year or so, but will probably be revived here in the next few months if I can help get it going.

In the mean time, I found four unsold copies of this compilation. These are B&W comb-bound compilations as described above. They are available first-come first-serve to whomever private messages me.

Here's the text of the original advert flyer:

[quote]Megamorphics

Megamorphics is an Amateur Press Association focused on the topic of Macrofurs, that is, furs of unusual size.

It was started in May 1997 and has been released quarterly since it’s inception, reaching it’s 25th issue in the fall of 2003.

APA

As an Amateur Press Association (APA) the content of Megamorphics is usually not publicly available.

An APA is designed for its members to trade work with an eye for artistic comment and criticism.

Each member contributes a number of copies equal to the number of members, which are bound at a central location and returned. To encourage the principal of artistic commentary, copies are never offered for sale in any form. Each member retains copyright of their individual work and only licenses the copies provided to their fellow member.

The Best of Collection

That is, until now. In the last 8 years a sizeable body of work has been produced. Some of the past and present members of the APA have elected to have their favorite contributions bound into a “best ofâ€

25 bucks for these things is a pretty danged good deal. Tig could take more for it and it'd STILL be good value. Go buy, folks!

If for some weird reason not all four copies are sold, I'll grab one of'em. Best to let others get the chance to buy'em first, though!

So's I can understands this correctly: Twenty-five per, or twenty-five cumulatively?

Dude tell me about it. I went to my first convention (Anthrocon) in 2000 and I was only 17. All my friends got to see the good stuff while I didn't. :P

I only have a couple more years. I've intentionally set my first AC to be the year I turn 18 (my birthday's in January...), with this kind of stuff in mind.

$25 for a copy of the compilation. The image there is the cover of the compilaton, which is a combination of all the Megamorphic covers to that date.

Sorry for the confusion. $25 for only one item that picks from the 25 issues of Megamorphics.

And we've had enough claimers hit my inbox. I think we've sold the copies out now.

Here's hoping that with the future revival of the APA we'll see more stuff like this released.
