The Porn Academy

Postby Chaswari » Thu Sep 06, 2007 3:42 pm

Welcome to the Porn Academy, where you can ask how to draw stuff and maybe even get an answer!

Well, okay, this is not the adult art forum, so you can't ask how to draw actual porn. But hey, let's not fool ourself. If anyone really learns anything in here, this new knowledge will doubtlessly go directly into the effort of drawing porn.

But before we start, let me clarify me one thing first: What happens in here is that you ask questions about how to draw something and I'll try to give you some advice, or maybe make fun of you if I don't have a clue myself.

What's not going to happen in here is you asking questions like "How do I draw furries?". Instead, you will ask questions like "How do I draw paws?"

Finally, what absolutely not going is to happen in here is you asking questions like "How do I draw my character? Here's the link to the detailed description." If you have requests then take them somewhere else. Like Fur Affinity. There's a whole army of artists with really expensive tablets waiting for your money over there.

Oh, and another thing. I got the impression that one or two of you guys are not completely incompetent when it comes to drawing. Feel free to pick up a question and give some advice yourself if you feel like.

Fine. Now let's see if this will work. If it doesn't, you can blame Twitch, who proposed this in another thread. If it does, I'll claim all credit for myself, of course.

I await your questions.

There is no single way to draw paws. You have an endless variety of foot types, styles and preferences.

Here's a quickie drawing I did a while back showing how I go about doing a typical paw from one angle. It could be useful.

oh, it will work as long as everyone pitches in to help if they can :3

my problem when it comes to drawing is digitigrade feet/legs, wings (of any types) and hands, though hands i think i'm getting the hang of it

my other problem is drawing my character's raptor like head at many different angles other than profile view... having most trouble with a full frontal view

a few reference of a raptor's head from different angle would be very helpfull and greatly appreciated from me.

Its tutorial time again? Earlier that bit on torso's and now a thread for it? Well last time that happened I joined in to give some help, but now it seems this thread is headed by someone/someones admittedly more skilled then I, so I guess there's not much need for me to give any tips.

So maybe that in mind, instead I could ask some more advanced stuff and pick up some tips myself!

One hobble for me is the relationship between the hand and the lower-arm, musclewise. How the way the wrist turns affects the lower arm muscles. Has anyone ever done anything on that? Like a chart that shows different hand positions and how it affects the lower arm? I'm still a little foggy on it, and all my musclecharts seem to show the same position for the hands and lower arm all the time. So there not to much help.

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out! :)

Other tips I could use would be any and all handy tricks that make perspective drawing easier. (I know the one where you draw something in a box.) I still think that could use work. (Plus, I think it'd help me apply skills I already have in more interesting, dynamic and lifelike ways.)

EDIT: Apperently I already do what I should be doing.

Also tips on how to make clothing look more like clothing, and less like a part of the body. I wouldn't say I'm that great at clothes so far either. Pants to often seem like smooth legs with a belt when I draw them, and t-shirts and such are even harder.

Still want this!

Finally, facial expressions, and how to give the face a good 3D appearance are always welcome.

And the bold part too. Expressions. Apperently the 3D thing I already am on the right track with.

So if anyone would share any of such tips, I'd be much obliged. I guess I'm probably more at intermediate level myself art-wise, but I HAVE been having a bit of trouble progressing lately. And these are some main concerns.

EDIT:
Guess I also said as much in my second post, but just in case someone was inclined to give me tips and was reading this thread from the beginning.

I would, but I don't have them anymore, and I don't want to search through all those old threads to find them.

Feet have been better explained than I ever could, so that leaves feet and heads. Which sucks, because those are probable the hardest things you could ask for.

Faces are hard because there's a million ways to draw faces. A million complicated ways. And hands are hard because hands are FUCKING HARD! They are really complex little bastards that can move and bend in all sort of crazy ways.

Explaining those would require a full fledged tutorial by someone who actually knows what he's doing. But anyway, here's a bunch of stuff. Probably won't be very helpful though. Feel free to ask a little more specific questions.
