Ignore button

Postby President Rufus » Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:55 am

I wondered whether it is possible to ignore certain people (not that I want to) and where one would find such a button, as some people tell me it can be done. And also, what exactly does the ignoring do?

And secondly, if you ignored someone, how would you know when to un-ignore him/her?

Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
Any technology, no matter how primitive, is magic to those who don't understand it.

Um.. Rufus. there's a whole thread dedicated to this already. : P

I'm betting this thread will open a can of worms though.

I make use of the 'ignore' feature when someone proves to be enough of an idiot that I don't feel there will ever be anything worthwhile to come from him.

Unigore? Why would you want to do that?

I'd like to say people learn, but that's giving them too much credit.

well thanks Cait for the info.
I was thinking that perhaps someone may change over time.

In the thread it states that you can still see what an ignored person can see via quoting. You could use that to measure whether or not you wish to keep said user ignored.

No, really. Ask me about it.

But how many people get quoted?

Therin lies the flaw. ROGUE has stated that he uses the ignore function when he believes that the person will never move beyond their idiocy. Yet, if an ignored person makes a truly intelligent post, and that post begins a large commentary then it could be assumed that said person may be ready to be removed from the ignore list.

I am unsure of this, and ROGUE may be able to answer this question. When a person is ignored and they subsequently create a new thread is that thread ignored completely?
