Postby sirleafjr » Sat Mar 22, 2008 1:42 am

I've just got word of the sequel of Cloverfield. They said that it will going to be released in 2009. You can go on here to more information:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield#Sequel
Tell me what you think!

What I want to know is if Michael Giacchino would once again do the music. I love what I've heard of his, I stayed for the end credits of Cloverfield to hear his end score. It was awesome. The movie was definitely one that had heads rolling and people leaving with mixed reactions. My immediate thoughts were "Gee...did I like that?". In fact, I even made fun of it, but didn't really dislike it.
...
I left not knowing, but eventually realizing it was the exact unique experience that it tried to create. I'd be interested in a sequel. I would hope that it could keep the originality and shaky-camera from the first film, which was easily one if its major sellers. I look forward to such a possibility.
...
Is it still just a possibility or has the idea of developing this sequel been set in stone? The wiki article (and I hate wiki's accuracy) makes it sound like it still uncertain as to whether or not they'll go through with it. It also seems a sequel would have to go backward, give a back-story to the action and destruction (which may be less exciting to some of the you macrophiles).
...
I'm interested in seeing how the idea of a sequel all plays out...and rooting for Giacchino's music to be included if they decide for it (which they have?)

Well if you like him, I heard (and this is true) that he will be scheduled to be scoring JJ Abrams's next film, Star Trek.

Yeah. That sounds cool. I fell in love with his music from the moment I heard it in the Mercenaries videogame (Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction). I liked it so much that I later hunted down the soundtrack to it. The theme to that is just too fun.
...
I do hope, however, that he may be involved if there is to be another Cloverfield movie, as his music made it that much better.

What.
I am utterly perplexed by this news.
It is a glorious thing, a thing to be a pirate king.

I won't trust wikipedia. >_>

Just that it seems too early to announce a sequel, in my opinion.

My understanding from the blogs covering the movie the intent was to have sequels all along because why not with how little the movie cost to make. Of course, Mr Abrams can never do anything conventional, and has talked about the sequels being the same events, just from different perspectives, using the justification that there isn't only one person in New York with a personal video camera.
There's a difference between lying to people and feeding them misinformation.

Why a sequel?
Didn´t the first one suck bad enough allready?
Really, Abrams should stay at making Lost, thats where he´s really good at.
Back to how much I rule...

I find Lost to be overrated personally, and everyone I talk to says it jumped the shark waaaaay back.

Well, I think that they should try to crossover Cloverfield with Lost. :D
